The Problems We Set Out to Solve
Hunter Feeder™ was born from a simple, frustrating question:
Why am I mostly feeding invasive species?
I’ve been feeding birds long enough to know: What you feed determines what you attract. Seed brings in sparrows, starlings, and doves - generalists, many of them invasive. But the species I actually want to support - the native ones - don’t show up. And that doesn’t sit right with me.
I want to see an Eastern Bluebird. So I built something to make that possible.
Problem: Seed Feeders Attract the Wrong Birds
Solution: Feed for behavior, not convenience.
House sparrows, starlings, and pigeons thrive at seed feeders.
Hunter Feeder™ delivers live mealworms passively—no seed, no suet—built for native insectivores like bluebirds, wrens, robins, and phoebes.
Problem: Most Live Feeders Promote Gorging, Not Foraging
Solution: Timed access, not buffet access.
Dumping a bowl of worms triggers binge behavior. Birds gorge, waste feed, and don’t return consistently.
Hunter Feeder™ mimics natural foraging with gradual release—encouraging repeat visits and supporting instinctive feeding cycles.
Problem: Live Feeding Is Messy and Manual
Solution: A passive system that is easy to load.
No timers. No batteries. No scooping.
Hunter Feeder™ uses calibrated spacing and gravity to dispense live feed over time—without waste or intervention.
Problem: Live Feed Dies in the Dish
Solution: The feeder sustains life—not just for birds.
Mealworms require airflow, drainage, and protection from drowning.
Hunter Feeder™ maintains a livable micro-environment with no power required—just smart, layered design.
Problem: Insectivores Have Specific Needs—Especially During Nesting
Solution: Nutritionally appropriate, seasonally relevant.
During nesting, birds require protein-rich, moisture-dense live prey.
Hunter Feeder™ delivers what seed blends can’t—matching the biological needs of species that are often ignored.
Problem: Most Feeders Are Designed for the Same Customer
Solution: A category that reaches new buyers.
The bird feeding market has long been skewed female, age 45+, and focused on seed blends. That audience matters—but it’s already saturated.
Hunter Feeder™ opens the door to a new segment:
Men and gear-minded birders who value purpose-built products
Younger users drawn to wildlife, sustainability, and design
Homeowners who want native species—not just backyard noise
By targeting insectivores instead of generalists, Hunter Feeder™ creates a differentiated offering that’s aligned with modern values—and drives adoption from a broader, under-addressed buyer set.
Problem: Most Feeders Prioritize People Over Birds
Solution: Designed for the species that actually need support.
Hunter Feeder™ doesn’t rely on bright plastic trays or novelty shapes.
It’s engineered for native birds—discouraging pests and focusing on functional access.
Problem: Subscription Models Feel Like a Trap
Solution: Subscription optional, not required.
Use our sealed worm cartridges—or supply your own.
Hunter Feeder™ works with bulk worms or home-farmed colonies, giving users freedom while supporting repeatable, scalable use.
Problem: Disposable Systems Create More Waste
Our subscription cartridges are recyclable or biodegradable.
This is about feeding ecosystems, not filling landfills.
